How to find GCF? To find the greatest common factor of 12 and 20, you need to list prime factors of each number. After you find the prime factors, multiply the factors which are in common from both numbers.

For example, if a common factor is a number 2 and a number 4, multiply them. The result will be the greatest common factor. If there are no common numbers, the answer is always "1".
